' # Page Baght THE NEW BERN MIRROR, NEW BERN, N. C. Friday, December 16, 1966 Teen Topics By SHERRY WATSON Hi! This week has been a special one for us at New Bern Hl^ School. Everyone has been counting the days until we get out for the holidays. And today was the day. No school for two weeks. Aren't we lucky? Pity our poor parents though. I know they'll be glad when January comes, and we're back in school. Wednesday we had club day at school. The French Club is planning to go caroling, and I expect some other dubs are planning things too. Thursday night was the Choral Concert, presented by the New Bern High School glee clubs and choir. It was great. I always enjoy these concerts. Everyone puts a lot of work into them. Today we had our Christmas Assembly. Santa and all his reindeer and elves visited us. Once a year, the F riday following Christmas, theMlr- ror suspends publication, sol'll wish you a H^py New Year too. The editor, who has a spedal place in his heart for teenagers, and the rest of the Mirror fam ily also extend their warm wishes for a wonderful holiday season. Looking Glass- (Continued from Page 1) had agreea on never came back, so lar as anyone knows. As for Lon Chaney, the great est of all horror actors, he was in real life a kind, gentle, and very sentimental man. When he was on the set, performing for the camera, he always had a studio violinist play the sad strains of “Dear Old Girl” to stir his emotions. It worked too. Chaney’s recognized succes sor in the horror field, Boris Karloff, is a gentle person too. Kay Kyser’s mother, thebelov ed “Mom” he dedicated his coast to coast broadcasts to, once told this editor that Kar loff was the “nicest” and most polite celebrity she ever met in Hollywood.
